Bessie Ruth Lavelle

Lisbon- Bessie Ruth Lavelle, 92, of North Street, passed away at 12:30am, Monday, November 17, 2014 at the Salem Regional Medical Center following a recent illness.Mrs. Lavelle was born September 4, 1922 in Hannibal, Ohio, the daughter of the late Russell and Mable (Sutter) Chance, and had lived in Lisbon since 1963, coming from West Virginia.A 1940 graduate of Magnolia High School, Bessie worked as a clerk at the former Ben Franklin store in Lisbon. She was a member of St. George Catholic Church and a former member of the Altar and Rosary Society.Her husband, Patrick D. Lavelle, whom she married January 15, 1947, preceded her in death September 21, 1991. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Ann (James) Blackburn of Salineville, Ohio; grandchildren, Kevin (Shelley) Blackburn of Bell Brook, Ohio, Shelly Blackburn of San Antonio, Texas, and Tracy (Dustin) Leek of Daytona Beach, Florida; great grandchildren, Emma, Owen, and Audrey Blackburn, and Abigail and Elisabeth Leek.Mrs. Lavelle was preceded in death by her daughter, Donna Lavelle; and sisters, Helen Postlewait, Mami Monahan and Alberta Matthews.Funeral services will be held at 10am, Friday, November 21, 2014 at the Eells-Leggett-Stauffer Funeral Home.
