Dean A. Rose

Lisbon-Dean A. Rose, 80, of Lisbon, passed away peacefully on May 1st, 2015, at his log home with family at his side. He was born in Lisbon Sept 29th, 1934, the son of the late Fred G. Rose and Helen Strudthoff Rose. Dean was a lifetime resident of Lisbon. He graduated in 1952 from David Anderson High School, where he met and later married his high school sweetheart, Clara M. Hawthorne, on November 22nd, 1953. They celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary this past November. Dean went on from high school to attend Mount Union and Youngstown State University. He then became a self-employed business man whose many ventures included farming, Dean Rose Excavating, Keffler & Rose Coal, Italo's Pizza, & The County Seat Plaza. He developed many other projects and played an instrumental part in spearheading most of the development north of Lisbon. Dean was very passionate about his community. He spent time in his early years restoring various buildings in downtown Lisbon and serving as an active member of the Lisbon Chamber of Commerce.If you knew Dean, you knew he's never met a stranger. His main interest and hobby was working. Some of his other favorite pastimes included spending time with his family, enjoying a good message on Sundays, antiquing, yard sales, and keeping up with the latest construction projects. He also enjoyed wintering in Florida with Clara for the past 17 years. Dean was preceded in death by his brother Glen Rose.Dean is survived by his wife, Clara M. Rose; daughter, Cindy (Bud) Warrington; son, Tad (Kelli) Rose; brothers, Jerry Rose and David (Inez) Rose; sister-in-law Elaine (the late Glen) Rose; five grandchildren, Justin (Jamie) Garwood, Brandon (Emily) Garwood, Megan Rose, Jessica (Jacob) Lauber, & Tessa Rose; and two great-granddaughters, Maddie & Bailey Garwood.In honor of Dean, a celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, May 17th at the New Lisbon Presbyterian Church, 111 East Chestnut Street, Lisbon.
