Joseph Andrew Smitha

Lisbon- Joseph Andrew Smitha, 65, of Hilltop Drive, passed away Monday, January 12, 2015 at his home from injuries sustained in a house fire.Mr. Smitha was born September 17, 1949 in Canton, Ohio, a son of the late James Buchanan and Hazel (Rose) Young of Midland, PA, and had lived most of his life in the Lisbon area.He had worked as a crane operator at Eljer's in Salem, retiring in 2003. Joseph loved the outdoors and he enjoyed motorcycling and hunting. He also loved spending time with his family and his beloved razor-back Pitbull, Diesel. Mr. Smitha was also a U.S. Army Veteran, serving during the Vietnam War.He is survived and will be sadly missed by his son, Andy (Amber) Shafer of Salem, step children, Daphney House and Crystal House, both of Lisbon and Chris Becker of Kensington; sisters, Shirley of Midland and Barb of East Liverpool; brother, Carl Young of Midland; 12 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.A sister, Sharon, preceded him in death.Following his wishes, no calling hours or funeral services will be observed.Arrangement are in the care of the Eells-Leggett-Stauffer Funeral Home.Friends may view Joseph's memorial webpage and send condolences online at www.eells-leggett-stauffer.com To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Joseph Andrew Smitha please visit our Sympathy Store.
