Karen Sue Marshalek

New Waterford- Karen Sue Marshalek, 62, of Signal Rd., passed away at 1:20pm, Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at the Salem Regional Medical Center following a recent illness.Karen was born December 2, 1954 in Salem, a daughter of the late John A. and Anna (Korode) Marshalek and had lived in this area all of her life.A 1972 graduate of David Anderson High School, Karen was an honest, caring person who had worked at various nursing homes, but had most recently worked at The Way Station in Columbiana. She was also a member of St. George Catholic Church.She is survived and will be fondly remembered by her brother, Jacob J. (Paula) Marshalek of Lisbon; her sister, Joan (Paul) Roethlisberger of Canton; her companion of 22 years, Darin Lockard of New Waterford; and 4 nieces and a nephew.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her infant brother, John Marshalek, Jr. and niece, Elizabeth Roethlisberger.Following her wishes, no calling hours or funeral services will be observed. Private burial will take place at the Lisbon Cemetery at a later date.The family suggests memorial contributions be made to The Way Station, 769 Springfield Rd, Columbiana, OH 44408.The family would also like to thank all of the nurses, doctors, and hospice staff who took such good care of Karen.
