Maurice W. Armstrong

Lisbon- Maurice W. Armstrong, 96, of North Market Street, passed away at 9:10am, Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at Salem Regional Medical Center following a recent illness.Mr. Armstrong was born July 7, 1918 in Lisbon, a son of the late Lawrence and Linnie (Everett) Armstrong and had lived all of his life in the Lisbon area.A 1935 graduate of Lisbon David Anderson High School, Maurice worked as a meter reader for Ohio Edison for 35 years, retiring in 1978. He was an Elder and Deacon at the New Lisbon Presbyterian Church; member of the New Lisbon Lodge 65 F&AM; 65 year member of the Scottish Rite, Valley of Steubenville; was an avid golfer and hunter; and he enjoyed gardening.His wife, Marjorie R. (Smith) Armstrong, who he married November 12, 1938, preceded him in death April 24, 1986.He is survived and will be dearly missed by his daughters, Kay (Paul) Buckley and Diane Armstrong, both of Lisbon, and Janet (the late Robert) Krueger of Annapolis, Maryland; grandchildren, Michael (Colleen) Buckley of Fort Collins, Colorado, Suzanne (Michael) Hritz of Salem, and Terry Buckley of Reno, Nevada; great grandchildren, Dr. Christopher Hritz of Columbus, Ohio, Craig Hritz of Akron, Ohio, Michael Hritz of Salem, Keenan Buckley of Fort Collins, Ashley Buckley, Abby Buckley, and Ally Buckley, all of Fort Myers, Florida.Funeral services will be held at 11am, Monday, November 17, 2014 at the Eells-Leggett-Stauffer Funeral Home with Rev. Cindy Carlisle and Elder Ruth Ann Cole officiating.
