West Point- Beatrice “Bea” Rupp, 92, passed away Friday, January 26. 2024 at Covington Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation with her family at her side following a recent illness.
Mrs. Rupp was born February 28, 1931 in West Point, a daughter of the late George A. and Anna (Gerosky) Kosko and had lived her entire life in West Point.
A 1949 graduate of Lisbon David Anderson High School, Bea worked as a licensed insurance agent with her late husband, Dallas at The Rupp Agency in Calcutta.
A devoted Catholic, she was a faithful member of St. Agatha’s Catholic Church, where she had served as President of the ladies’ guild as well as serving in various other positions over the years. Bea was also a member of the ladies auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus, Cardinal Mercier and was a 50 plus year member of the West Point Grange, where she performed in many of the granges minstral shows.
In 1990, Mrs. Rupp was recognized for her generous volunteer work by being named “Citizen of the Week”. She was a member of the Akron Chapter of Spina Bifida Mothers and spearheaded many fundraising events, and during one of these events, she secured financial support from the National Corvette Association for the group after a chance meeting with a Corvette owner and was very active with the March of Dimes program and served on the Northeast Ohio special education board.
Her husband, Dallas B. Rupp, whom she married October 6, 1951, preceded her in death April 19, 2018. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Eleanor Giovanotto and her son-in-law, Joe Pease.
She is survived and will be dearly remembered by her daughters, Kathi Pease of Calcutta, Karen (Ron) Wathey of West Point, and Kris Rupp of West Point; brother, George L. Kosko of West Point; grandchildren, Becki Hilditch of Calcutta, Brian Pease of Calcutta, Brent Pease of Lakewood, Nathan Wathey of Columbus, and Anna Madison of Lisbon; great grandchildren, Parker and Sophia Pease, Laci, Bria, Matt, Josh Hilditch and Emma Madison; and great- great grandchildren, Corinne and Crue Hilditch,
A funeral mass will be held at 11am, Thursday, February 1, 2024 at St. Agatha’s Catholic Church with Rev. Father Stephen Wassie officiating. Burial will follow at the Lisbon Cemetery.
The family will receive guests from 5pm to 8pm Wednesday at the Eells-Leggett-Stauffer Funeral Home.
