December 25, 1925 ~ January 12, 2008 (age 82)
Bill Apple? Lisbon- Bill Apple, 82, of Vista Drive, formerly of North Market Street, passed away unexpectedly at 11:55am, Saturday, January 12, 2008 in the emergency room at Salem Community Hospital following an extended illness. ??????????? Mr. Apple was born December 25, 1925 in Lisbon, a son of the late William G. and Edith (Clapsaddle) Apple Miller, and had lived his entire life in the Lisbon area. ??????????? Bill worked for 36 years at Col-Pump until he retired in September of 1985. ??????????? A protestant by faith, he was a life member of the Wilfred J. Clunk VFW Post 4111, where he served twice as post commander; past member and secretary of the Lisbon Golf League at Copeland Hills, where he was an avid golfer for many years and had scored 5 hole-in-one during his lifetime. ??????????? Bill was also a member and past secretary of the Lisbon Bowling League; member of the American Legion Post #275; member of the Lisbon Eagles Aerie 2216; member of the former Lisbon Whist (Bridge) Club and was actively involved with Lisbon Little League Baseball.????????? ??????????? Mr. Apple was also a U.S. Navy WWII veteran, having served in the South Pacific during the liberation of the Philippine Islands. ??????????? His wife, Laura (Snyder) Apple, whom he married May 1, 1948, preceded him in death October 21, 2004. ??????????? He is survived by three daughters, Janice Corriher of Largo, Florida, Mrs. April (Michael) Pozenel and Mrs. Tina (Thomas) Ambrose, both of Lisbon; a son, Terry (Kathy) Apple of China Grove, North Carolina; sisters, Irene Herman of Warren, June Steitz of North Lima, and Mrs. Janice (Kent) Schmidt of Arthur, Illinois; five grandchildren, Travis Apple, Lucas Pozenel, Autumn Apple, Logan Pozenel, and Tyler Apple. ??????????? In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Apple was preceded in death by brothers, Frank and Kenneth Apple and an infant grandson. ??????????? Funeral services will be held at 11:00am, Friday, January 18, 2008 at the Eells-Leggett-Stauffer Funeral Home with the Rev. Ross Jackson officiating.? Burial with full military honors will follow in Lisbon Cemetery.? Friends may call from 6 to 8 pm, Thursday at the funeral home.??????????????????????????????????????????????????????? ???????????
