Marilyn Bergert Obituary

Lisbon- Marilyn J. Bergert, 92, of State Route 517, passed away at 3:10pm, Thursday, April 18, 2019 at her home with her loving family by her side. She was born December 4, 1926, in Canton, Ohio, the daughter of the late Peter and Bertha (Essig) Peterson, and had lived in Lisbon since November 1956, when she married her husband Bill. Marilyn had been employed as a stenographer in Canton. She was a former member of Trinity United Presbyterian Church, where she served as a deacon and was one of the founders of the HELP organization. Mrs. Bergert was a member and officer of the Women's Missionary Society; a member of the New Lisbon Presbyterian Church and member of the church choir. She was also member of Lisbon Music Study Club and a former board member of the Northern Columbiana County Community Concert Association and a member of Coterie.In addition to her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur D. "Bill" Bergert; her sister, Shirley A. Evans; her son, Peter L. Miller; and her son-in-law, Larry Carroll. She is survived by her son, Robert L. Miller (Kathy) of Jacksonville, FL; daughter, Jane Lynn Carroll (Alan Altomare) of Guilford Lake; son, James S. Bergert (Pauline) of Alpharetta, GA; son, Daniel L. Bergert (Ellen) of Jackson, OH; brother-in law, Gary Evans of Louisville, OH; 10 grandchildren, Katherine Miller (GA), Chris Dean (Sara)(FL), Kile Miller (Jessica)(CA), Samantha Street (Kevin)(OH), Kristofer Carroll (Mary Ann)(SC), Beth Ewing (Jon)(HI), Nick Bergert (Morgan)(FL), Andre Bergert (Spain), William Bergert (OH), and Rebecca Bergert (OH); caregiver and dear friend, Janice Hively; multiple nieces and nephews; and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11am, Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at the Eells-Leggett-Stauffer Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Mary Jo Bruinooge officiating. Private burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in Canton. The family will receive friends from 10am until the time of services Tuesday at the funeral home.
