Salem- Muriel L. Ward, 93, of Park Ave., formerly of Hanoverton, passed away at 8:52pm, Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Health Center, Youngstown following a recent illness. Ms. Ward was born May 16, 1925 in Detroit, Michigan, a daughter of the late Herbert H. and Anna Lois (McMonigal) Steinbaugh, and had moved to this area from Youngstown in 1937.Muriel worked as the business office manager for 26 years at the former Salem Community Hospital, retiring in 1991.She was a faithful member of St. George Catholic Church. Muriel was an active volunteer throughout her life and had a drive to contribute. She volunteered with Hospice of the Valley, RSVP, and most recently the Salem Library. She felt one of her greatest accomplishments was a missionary trip to Senegal to work with the UN in 2004.She is survived and will be dearly missed by her daughters, Katherine L. (Richard) Fawcett of Salem and Nancy (Jack) McLees of Waxhaw, N. Carolina; sons, Allan J. (Jo Ann) Ward of The Villages, Florida, and David E. (Kim) Ward of San Diego, California; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her son, Michael R. Ward, and sisters, Dorothy A. Foster and Barbara L. Stewart.A funeral mass will be held at 11am, Saturday, September 22, 2018 at St. George Catholic Church, 271 West Chestnut Street, with Rev. Father Stephen Wassie officiating.
