Robert G. "Bob" Whitacre

Lisbon- Robert George "Bob" Whitacre, 84, of State Route 45, passed away peacefully at 12:50pm, Monday, February 25, 2019 at the Salem Regional Medical Center following a recent illness.Mr. Whitacre was born February 13, 1935 in Rogers, Ohio, a son of the late Donald LeRoy and Olive Virginia (Walter) Whitacre and had lived all of his life in the area.Bob enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served immediately after the Korean War. Mr. Whitacre worked as a truck driver with D&V Trucking, retiring in 1997.Bob loved music and playing the guitar. In fact, he could play almost any musical instrument, and did so almost all of his life.He is survived and will be dearly missed by his wife, JoAnn (Cope) Whitacre, whom he married October 6, 2005; his children, Lorraine Beth (Matthew) Busek of Minerva, Barbara (Percy) Bussard of Lisbon, Edward Allan Whitacre of Coshocton, Ohio, Robert Joseph "Bobby Joe" Whitacre of Florida, Jeffery Lee (Sherry) Whitacre of Minerva, Jerry Gene (Lydia) Whitacre of Alliance, and Robert Gaston of Columbus. Bob also leaves siblings, Janice Weingart of Salem, Virginia "Ginny" (Ray) Baughman, Linda (Myron) Wehr, Carol Dickinson, James (Linda) Whitacre, and Karen (Guy) Wick), all of New Waterford; as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, Bob is also preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara Ann Whitacre; infant son, Thomas Jay "Tommy Jay" Whitacre; brothers, Gene and Windy Whitacre; and son, William Gaston, Jr.Funeral services will be held at 11am, Friday, March 1, 2019 at the Eells-Leggett-Stauffer Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Mary Jo Bruinooge officiating.
