Shirley M. Ward

Lisbon- Shirley M. Ward, 92, passed away peacefully at 9:50am, Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at the Salem Regional Medical Center.Mrs. Ward was born March 21, 1926 in Lisbon, a daughter of the late James Basel Johnson and the late Edna May (Smith) Johnson, and had lived in the Lisbon area all of her life.A 1944 graduate of Lisbon David Anderson High School, Shirley was a homemaker, and had worked at Mullins Manufacturing during the mid 1940's and at Morgan Drug Store in the late 1960's.She was also a faithful member of the New Lisbon Presbyterian Church.Her husband, Dean E. Ward, whom she married August 7, 1945 and enjoyed 70 years of marriage, preceded her in death October 15, 2015. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Betty Kauffman and by her brothers, Bob, Bill and Richard Johnson.Shirley leaves to cherish her memory, her sons, Gary L. (Donna) Ward of Lisbon and Tom Ward of Cincinnati; sister, Ruth Woodburn of Lisbon; brothers, Soward Johnson of Zanesville, Ohio; grandchildren, Lee (Mandy) Ward, Jaime (EaMaurio) Wade, and Lyndsey (Steven) Smith; and 5 great grandchildren.Following Shirley's wishes, no calling hours or services will be observed.
