Aurelia Burson Mercer

Salem- Aurelia Burson Mercer, 90, Newgarden Ave., passed away at 7:45am, Monday, April 23, 2018 at the Salem Regional Medical Center.Mrs. Mercer was born May 28, 1927 in Lisbon, a daughter of the late Vasile and Paraschiva (Silea) Burson, who were Romanian immigrants. Aurelia was a nurse for 27 years at the Salem Community Hospital, where she retired in 1994.She attended the Salem Wesleyan Methodist Church and Salem First Friends Church.She will be remembered as a giving person and she faithfully donated every month to the Christian Aid Ministry. She was also an avid reader and political historian.A loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, she is survived by her eight children, Vicki Goodell-Redepenning of Lake Havasu City, Arizona, Ted (Ruby) Gilmer of Leola, PA, Marcia (Richard) Whiteleather of North Benton, Phil (Alora M.) Mercer of Hastings, FL, Phyllis (Rick) Ferrare of Youngstown, Ray Alan (Val) Mercer of Medford, OR, Ann (Jeff) Fought of Rootstown, Lynn (Rick) Finch of Saint Claire Shores, MI; sister, Olimpia Edling of Salem; grandchildren, Garth, Jennifer, Tyler, Heather, David, Shawn, Dustin, Jason, Shane, David, Tiffany, Adam, Cassie, Mason, Matthew, Kristy, Ben, Joe, Katie, and Candice; and 33 great grandchildren.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Victoria Burson, and brother, Charles Burson.Private services and burial will be held Saturday, April 28, 2018 at the Lisbon Cemetery with Pastor Stanley Grabill officiating. A celebration of Aurelia's life will be held at 2pm, Saturday, May 26, 2018 at the Freedom Church of Canfield, 3999 McCarty Rd., Canfield, Ohio.
