Fritz Mullen

Lisbon-Francis Edward "Fritz" Mullen, 95, of Morris Rd., passed away peacefully at 10:40pm, Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family.Fritz was born February 16, 1923 in Donora, PA, a son of the late Edward and Elizabeth Sarah (Little) Mullen and had lived most of his life in the Lisbon area.He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp as a Master Sergeant and Crew Chief on a B-17 bomber during WW II. He flew with the 306th Bomb Squadron, which was the 1st squadron to bomb Germany during the war.After the war, he began working in the strip mines, working and operating dozers. He also owned and operated a Shell service station in Columbiana and he and his business partner also operated and owned 7 NAPA auto parts stores at one time. Fritz was also a pilot and had once flown under the Newell Bridge. He was also an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping.His wife, Jane LaRue (Cope) Mullen, whom he married July 25, 1948, preceded him in death January 30. 1987. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Agnes Frank and Betty Elizabeth Grier and his brothers, Walter and Edward "Red" Mullen.He is survived and will be dearly remembered by his daughters, Nancy (Don) Beatty of New Galilee, PA and Patty (Jim) Dailey of Lisbon; sons, Ross Edward (Jackie) Mullen of New Port Richey, FL and Danny Francis Mullen of Lisbon; sister, Margaret "Peg" Wallace of East Palestine; 7 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Teska. Funeral services will be held at 11am, Saturday, June 30, 2018 at the Eells-Leggett-Stauffer Funeral Home with Pastor Ellen Barney officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at the East Carmel Cemetery, Rogers, Ohio.The family will receive friends from 5pm to 7pm, Friday and from 10am until the time of services Saturday at the funeral home.Memorial contributions may be made to the Wilfred J.
