Jewyl G. Hina

Lisbon-Jewyl G. Hina, 95, formerly of North Market Street, passed away at 11:36am, Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at the Vista Center.Mrs. Hina was born March 10, 1922 in Lisbon, a daughter of the late Dr. James C. and Annie (Bradfield) Gruber, and had been a life resident of the village.Jewyl worked as the office supervisor for the Columbiana County Republican Party for many years. She was also a board member and volunteer at the former Salem Community Hospital. An avid enthusiast of Columbiana County and Lisbon history, she was an active member of the Lisbon Historical Society. Jewyl was also a faithful member of the New Lisbon Presbyterian Church, the Lisbon Garden Club, and the Bridge Club. In her free time, she enjoyed crocheting and doing needlepoint. She was also a lover of literature and the arts. She was often seen working in her yard or walking around town with her dog.Her husband, Charles E. Hina, whom she married July 3, 1969, preceded her in death August 20, 1985. She was also preceded in death by her son, Robert A. Williams, Jr. and her brother, James C. Gruber, Jr.Jewyl is survived by her sister, Kathryn Gallo of Lisbon; granddaughters, Sarah Williams Glenn and Anna Williams, both of California; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved Scottish terrier, Barney. A memorial service will be held at 11am, Saturday, November 11, 2017 at the New Lisbon Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. Mary Jo Bruinooge officiating. Private burial will take place at the Lisbon Cemetery.
