Lisbon- John E. Metzgar, 80, of Guy Rd., passed away at 10:10pm, Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at Heritage Valley Beaver Hospital following a lengthy illness.Mr. Metzgar was born March 3, 1938 in Salem, a son of the late John W. and Lena M. (Cozart) Metzgar and had lived in this area all of his life. John was a truck driver and had driven for several area companies over the years, retiring from TFI Trucking in 1996. Prior to this, he had worked at the former Royal China Company of Sebring.A Christian by faith, John enjoyed boating and fishing with his friends, doing woodworking projects, spending time with his beloved dog, Missy, and playing cards and dominos with his late friends, Glenn and Joanne Joseph. John and Glenn also loved to go to the Rogers Sale.He is survived and will be dearly missed by his companion of many years, Alverda L. Lanham; daughter, Sandra (Lee) Zehentbauer of Hanoverton; sons, Rick (Candy) Metzgar of Alliance, John (Mechelle) Metzgar of North Canton, OH and Scott Metzgar-Schrader of Mansfield, OH; step daughter, Licia (Jim) Breedlove of Cambridge, OH; step son, Charles (Chris) Andric of Leetonia; brothers, Gary (Rosie) Metzgar, Ken (Rosemary) Metzgar, and Gene "Moe" (Chris) Metzgar, all of Salem; 17 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia (Riesen) Metzgar; second wife, Donna (Carlisle) Metzgar; daughter, Michelle Mayle; infant daughter, Lisa Metzgar; sisters, Ruth Ann "Sally" Stiffler, Dolores Nutter, Patricia Myers, Jackie Wood; and brothers, Ray, Robert, Richard, Dave, and James Metzgar. Following his wishes, no public calling hours or funeral services will be observed.
