Bernard "Leroy" Burkhart

Lisbon-Bernard L. “Leroy” Burkhart, 79, passed away Monday, May 4, 2026 at Blossom Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following a recent illness.

Leroy was born June 21, 1946 in Glen Dale, West Virginia, a son of the late Roy and Violet (Bartrum) Burkhart and had moved to Lisbon several years ago, coming from Minerva.

Leroy owned and operated Burkhart Construction and specialized in the installation of vinyl siding.  He had also worked for the Consol Coal Company at one time.

He was a faithful member of the Hanoverton Church of Christ, enjoyed woodworking and was a vendor at the Rogers Community Auction.

His wife, Mary I. (Moore) Burkhart, whom he married October 17, 1966, preceded him in death September 17, 2021.  He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Ruby Harrington, Patty Baldwin, Ruth Toffer, and Violet White; and by his grandson, Levi Burkhart.

Leroy is survived and will be deeply missed by his daughters, Carol Moats and Susan (Bill) Robinson; his sons, Bernard R. (Pauline) Burkhart and Ronald (Amy) Burkhart; grandchildren, Kristal (Cameron), Henry, Dawn, Travis, Shawn (Denise), Donnie (Kacey), and Dallas (Emily); great grandchildren, Alecia, Dillon, Callie, Nellie, Liam, Anastasia, Kameron, Ryker, Remington, and Zoey; great great grandchildren, Ellie, Enzo, Wesley, and AJ.  He is also survived by his siblings, Mae Blakemore, Earl (Sue) Burkhart and Herman (Ethel) Burkhart; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11am, Saturday, May 16, 2026, at the Hanoverton Church of Christ, 9833 First Street, Hanoverton, Ohio with Pastor Chris Raynor officiating. 

The family will receive friends and family from 10am until the time of services at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Hanoverton Church of Christ.
