Lisbon- David “Dave” Cope, 75, passed away Sunday, October 12, 2025 at University Hospital Cleveland following a courageous battle with cancer.
Dave was born December 9, 1949 in Salem, a son of the late Dale Cope and the late Donna (Chamberlain) Vulcan and Edward Vulcan.
He was a proud U.S. Marine Corp veteran having served during the Vietnam War era.
Dave worked in the core foundry at the Deming Pump Company in Salem and then later at Humtown Products in Columbiana until the late 1990’s.
He was the former commander of the Lisbon VFW Post #4111 and a member of the Lisbon Eagles Aerie 2216. Dave also enjoyed fishing and going hunting in his younger year. He also loved to work on cars and will be remembered as a “Jack of all trades”, as there wasn’t much he couldn’t fix.
He is survived and will be dearly missed by his wife, Sharon K. (Gaston) Cope, whom he married June 26, 1971; his children, Tonia (Arthur) Clendenning of Calcutta, Christal Cope, David J. Cope, and Jennifer Arnold, all of Lisbon; sister, Dianna Pickens of Lisbon, brother, Mike (Paula) Cope of Damascus, grandchildren, Savannah, Arthur Jr., Kayla, Zoey, Gage, John, and Juliett; and great grandchildren, Iliza, Oxley, Urian, and Delilah.
In addition to his parents, Dave was also preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Dale and Ken McCulley; son-in-law, Mark Arnold; and by his beloved grandmother, Freda Chamberlain.
The family will receive guests from 5pm to 7pm, Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at the Eells-Leggett-Stauffer Funeral Home. No funeral service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contribution be made to the Lisbon VFW or to the Lisbon Eagles.
