Newport News, Virginia-David Harry Rogers, 88, passed away peacefully May 13, 2026, at Mennowood Assisted Living.
Mr. Rogers was born July 15, 1937, in Salem, Ohio, a son of the late Fred E. and Almeda (Finch) Rogers.
David was a farmer, truckdriver and an owner-operator for Matlack Trucklines. He was a faithful member of the Bethesda Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon, trustee, and Elder. David was also a member of the Masonic Lodge and had served Franklin Township as a trustee.
He is survived and will be deeply missed by his wife of 69 years, Bernice (Downard) Rogers, whom he married September 22, 1956; daughters, Rebecca Wayne of Newnan, Georgia, Diana (George) Erhart of Sherwood, Oregon, and JoAnne (Garry) Qualls of Newport News, Virginia; sister, Shirley (John) Clark of Lisbon; brother, Fred A. (Sylvia) Rogers of Summitville; grandchildren, Samuel Erhart, Zachary Erhart, Victoria Qualls, Katherine Qualls, and Virgie (Victor) Ta; and great grandchildren, Rylee Erhart and Oliver Erhart.
A private family visitation will be held Tuesday, June 2, 2026 at the Eells-Leggett-Stauffer Funeral Home with a graveside service and burial following at Grove Hill Cemetery in Hanoverton with Pastor Phil Bartholomew officiating.
