Salineville-Deane Clemens, 92, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 6, 2024 at Auburn Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following a recent illness.
Deane was born October 26, 1931 in Wayne Township, Lisbon, Ohio, a son the late William Frank “Slim” and Valancha (Ketchum) Homan and had lived in the area all of his life.
Deane worked as a welder at NRM until it closed, served as a Franklin Township Trustee, and had attended the Madison Trinity Church.
He will be fondly remembered as an avid gardener, and he loved to play his guitar and sing country western songs. But family brought the most joy to his heart.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Chloe (Justice) Clemens, whom he married September 9, 1950, on January 21, 1998, and by his second wife, Shirley (Harbison) Clemens, whom he married October 23, 1999, on December 19, 2022.
Deane is survived and will be dearly remembered by his children, Linda (Dick) Wilson, Cindy (Bob) Brandt, Willie (Kitty) Clemens, and Cathy Groom; sisters, Marlene DeLong and Norma Owens; brothers, Ray Homan and Timothy Homan; brother-in-law, George Justice; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and his wives, Deane was also preceded in death by his sisters, Muriel Carter and Georgia Bowles; his brothers, Wayne Homan and Tom Homan; and granddaughter, Cindy L. Pelley.
Funeral services will be held at 11am, Thursday, October 10, 2024 at the Eells-Leggett-Stauffer Funeral Home with Pastor Ed Blackburn officiating. Burial will follow at Grove Hill Cemetery in Hanoverton.
The family will receive friends from 4pm to 7pm, Wednesday and from 10am until the time of services Thursday at the funeral home
Deane’s family would also like to express their gratitude to Minnie Justice, the Auburn Staff and Altman Hospice for the love, compassion and tender care given to their father during his time at Auburn.
