New Springfield- Dolores M. “Dolly” (Rouse) Cusick Clay, 85, passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2026 at her home with her family at her side.
Dolly was born May 31, 1940 in Lisbon, a daughter of the late Edgar Milton and Alice Faye (Conn) Rouse.
A 1959 graduate of Lisbon David Anderson High School, she began working as an envelope maker at American Paper Products, then as a waitress, and lastly as the office manager and bookkeeper at her late husband’s business, Clay’s Semi Truck and Autobody.
She was a faithful member of the New Springfield Church of God; member of the Rebekah Lodge, and loved to travel and camp, having travelled to the Outer Banks every year for the past 35 years.
Her husband, William D. “Bill” Clay, whom she married March 5, 1976, preceded her in death November 28, 2020. She was also preceded in death by her son, Howard K. Cusick; and by her brothers, Larry and Carl Rouse.
Dolly is survived by her daughters, Lori (Chris) Toot, Luann (Paul) Kraus, Brenda Gremba, all of East Palestine; daughter-in-law, Tammy (Bob) Panezich of New Middletown; grandchildren, Corey (Leslie) Kraus, Joe (Sarah) Kraus, Brad Landsberger, Andrew (Diana) Landsberger, Jess Toot, Brian (Brittany) Toot, Falon (Dale) Lowe, Haley (Austin) Bussey, Kacey (Paul) Swartz; greatgrandchildren, Nate, Melody, Raebin, and Adelina Kraus, Elizabeth, Carson, Aria, Gabby and Angelica Landsberger, Danielle, Jase and Raina Bussey, DJ, Alexandra, and Dominic Lowe, Noelle and Maverick Toot, Harper Miller, Mikayla, Memphis, Ainsley, and Alvey Swartz; and longtime employee and special friend, AJ Robinson.
A memorial service celebrating Dolly’s life will be held at a later date at the New Springfield Church of God. Private burial will take place at the New Springfield Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in Dolly’s memory to the church.
