Lisbon-Donald Ray Floding, 94, passed away on his family farm outside of Lisbon, Ohio on Wednesday, December 31, 2025.
He was born July 19, 1931, a son to the late Charles and Dorothy (Kelch) Floding. The farm originally belonged to Don’s grandfather, Elben Floding.
Don was known by all to be a character who loved his family and nature.
He was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ; served in the U.S. Army; earned a master’s degree in planning from Iowa State University; and had a long-distinguished career with the U.S. government.
Don is survived and will be dearly missed by his cherished wife of eight years, Judith “Judy” (Shakley) Floding of the home; his beloved brother, Kenneth (Brenda) Floding of Belpre, Ohio; his son, Joel Floding of the home; his daughter, Larae (Stephen) Vandeberg of Austin, Texas; friends who became family, Faye and Paul Morris, who also lived on the farm; seven grandchildren; one great grandchild; and his nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Don was also preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia (Aaron) Floding; his sister, Margery May Call; his nephews, Jason Floding and Brent Call; and by his great niece, Misty Dawn Williams.
A memorial service celebrating Don’s life will be held at 11am, Wednesday, January 7, 2025 at the Eells-Leggett-Stauffer Funeral Home with Pastor Rico Brown officiating. Full military honors will also be accorded by the Salem Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, Don has asked his family and friends to perform a random act of kindness in his memory.
