Kensington- Donald Lee “Tom” Whitehair, 84, passed away Saturday, May 31, 2025 at the Salem Regional Medical Center following a recent illness.
Tom was born January 22, 1941 in Flemington, West Virginia, a son of the late Walter Henry and Ellen Rose (Jenkins) Whitehair.
He worked as a sawyer at Reeder Lumber after high school. He later worked as a tile stacker at Summitville Tile in Minerva and for the road department for Franklin township.
Tom was a faithful member of the Harvest Baptist Church where he helped by mowing and trimming around the church grounds.
Tom enjoyed the outdoors and used to go hunting and fishing in his younger years. He was also a horseman and loved to go riding.
He is survived and will be dearly missed by his wife of 64 years, Eulevene (Blackburn) Whitehair, whom he married on March 4, 1961. Tom is also survived by his sisters, Violet Rose (William) McGuire of Hanoverton, Donna Lynn Westfall and Patricia McCloy, both of Flemington, and Delores Davis of Georgia; brothers, Delmous (Shirley) Whitehair of Flemington, Patrick (Patricia) Whitehair of Conway, S. Carolina, and Michael Whitehair of Clarksburg, W. Virginia; as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Tom was also preceded in death by his sister, Betty Pitts, brothers, Glenn and Roger Whitehair, and by his infant sister, Diane Whitehair.
A memorial service will be held at 1pm, Saturday, June 7, 2025 at the Eells-Leggett-Stauffer Funeral Home with Pastor Sam Severt officiating. Private burial will take place at Grove Hill Cemetery at a later date.
