Lisbon-Elizabeth Z. “Liz” Skeels, 83, passed away peacefully Friday, August 9, 2024 at the Blossom Nursing and Rehabilitation Center with her family at her side.
Liz was born August 23, 1940 in Mauerstetten, Germany, a daughter of the late George and Corrine (Petty) Ziegler.
She was a 1959 graduate of United High School, which was the first graduating class. She then furthered her education by earning her bachelor’s degree in business from Marietta College.
Liz was a homemaker, gardener, and bookkeeper for East Fork Farms and Jim Skeels Excavating and Trucking for over 40 years.
She was a former 4-H advisor, long time member of the Columbiana County Farm Bureau, where she served as a board member for many years. She was also appointed to the school board for Robert Bycroft School.
Liz is survived and will be dearly remembered by her loving husband, James A. “Jim” Skeels, whom she married July 16, 1974; daughter, Lisa Gladysz of Palmyra, PA; and grandsons, Vic and Sam Gladysz.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sons, Thomas “Tommie” and James “Jimmie” Skeels.
Funeral services will be held at 12pm, (Noon), Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at the Eells-Leggett-Stauffer Funeral Home with Dean Farmer officiating. Burial will follow at the Woodsdale Cemetery.
The family will receive guests from 10am until the time of services Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made in Liz’s memory to the charity of the donor’s choice.
