Lisbon- Elizabeth A. “Liz” Brown, 78, passed away Friday, March 13, 2026 at the Salem Regional Medical Center following a recent illness.
Liz was born November 27, 1947 in Salem, the daughter of the late James and Wanda (Bokelman) Penrose.
A 1966 graduate of West Branch High School, Liz worked as a nurse’s aide, then later as a clerk at Stewarts IGA and the Lisbon Rite-Aid. She was a member of the Lisbon Trinity Friends Church, where she played the organ and piano for over 30 years.
Her husband, Arthur L. “Art” Brown, Jr., whom she married on November 1, 1980, preceded her in death on February 16, 2010. She was also preceded in death by her granddaughter, Michelle Felt.
Liz will be dearly missed by her son, Michael Smith of Columbiana; sister, Martha Eckhart of North Carolina; brothers David Penrose of Beloit and Dan Penrose of Alliance; stepsister, Mary (Ken) Dixon of Lisbon; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date at the Lisbon Cemetery, where she and Art will be laid to rest.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Eells-Leggett-Stauffer Funeral Home.
