Evelyn Jane (Laughlin) Thompson

Lisbon-Evelyn Jane Laughlin Thompson, 97, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, June 29, 2026 at Rewards Senior Care.

Mrs. Thompson was born May 16, 1929 in Gavers, Ohio, a daughter of the late Walter and Grace B. (Anderson) Laughlin and had lived in the area all of her life.

A 1947 graduate of Lisbon David Anderson High School, Jane was a homemaker who spent many years volunteering at Church Woman United Help Center and at the Salem Regional Medical Center. She was awarded Woman of the Year in 2004 by the Lisbon area Church Woman United and was named R.S.V.P Volunteer of the Year in 2009. 

Jane was an active member at the former New Lebanon Presbyterian Church all of her life, where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star; enjoyed recaning antique chairs, gardening and canning.

Her husband, Paul H. Thompson, whom she married June 28, 1947, preceded her in death on December 7, 2004.

She is survived by her sons, Kenneth (Gayla) Thompson and Thomas (Hedy) Thompson; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Jane was also preceded in death by her son, Dean Thompson; sisters, Mabel Allison, Mary Ketchum and Helen McKarns; and by her brothers, Ray Laughlin and Warren “Ezra” Laughlin.

Following her wishes, no calling hours or funeral services will be observed at this time.  She will be laid to rest at the New Lebanon Church Cemetery.  A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at a later date and will be announced.
