Fawn E. Smith

New Waterford-Fawn E. Smith, 71, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, April 18, 2024 at the Salem Regional Medical Center.

Fawn was born October 17, 1952 in Fairmont, West Virginia, a daughter of the late William “Bill” and Teresa Mae (Costa) Mandich.

A 1971 graduate of Lisbon David Anderson High School, Fawn had lived 22 years in Iowa before returning to the area in the mid 1990’s.  She worked as a waitress at Smaldino’s, Mountaineer, and at Hoges in Calcutta, where she retired in 2023.

While living in Iowa, she enjoyed boating, tubing, and fishing on the Mississippi River.  She also loved to cook and host family dinners which were always a feast. Fawn also loved binge watching movies on TV.

She is survived and will be dearly remembered by her companion of 30 years, Ron Knight; her sister, Sheri Mandich; her beloved pup, Buzzy; and her many friends and customers who she so lovingly served over the years.  She will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her.

Following her wishes, no calling hours or funeral services will be observed.
