Lisbon- Gerald J. “Jerry” Rose, 88, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 2, 2025 at Blossom Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Jerry was born June 21, 1936 in Lisbon, a son of the late Fred G. and Helen (Strudthoff) Rose and had lived his entire life in the Lisbon area.
He was a 1955 graduate of Lisbon David Anderson High School, where he excelled at football. Jerry was the owner and general manager of the former Glogan’s Hardware Store in Salem. He also worked with his brother, Dean at the Lisbon Italo’s and with his brother, Dave at Rose Excavating. In his retirement Jerry worked for his nephew, Tad Rose at Ray Lewis & Company.
Jerry also enjoyed his many fishing trips to Canada.
He is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Smith of Lisbon; son, Kevin Rose of Grand Rapids, Michigan; brother, David (Inez) Rose of Lisbon; granddaughter, Mary (Buckius) Rose, Annalee Rose, and Ava Rose; grandson, Zakary Smith; great granddaughter, Emersyn Rose Buckius; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was also preceded in death by his brothers, Glen and Dean Rose.
A memorial visitation will be held from 4pm to 7pm, Tuesday, March 4, 2025. Private burial will take place at the Lisbon Cemetery at a late date.
