Jack Howard Pike

Dana Point, CA-Jack Howard Pike, 89, passed away Monday, May 13, 2024 following a lengthy illness.

He was born January 26, 1935 in Salem OH, the son of John Howard Pike and Mabel (Cromwell) Pike.

Jack grew up in Hanoverton and was a 1953 graduate from Lisbon David Anderson High School and settled and worked in the Salem area. He attended trade school and became a tool and die maker, eventually making his way to California around 1964. He was a Design Engineer for Hughes Aircraft Company, had his own patent, and had his own company Pike Machine Works. Jack’s hobbies included electronics, computers and genealogy.

He is survived and will be dearly missed by his companion, Alyce Ceballos; daughter, Deborah (Leland) Paynter of Salem OH; daughter-in-law, Mary Jane Rylaarsdam of Dana Point, CA; grandchildren, Donald (Jen) Paynter, Bree Paynter (Darren) Ferrell, Jack (Rebecca) Pike III, William Pike, and Thomas Pike; great-grandchildren, William (Sarah) Paynter, Hannah (Cody) Maris, Alex Gonzalez, Ariana Gonzalez; and great-great grandchildren, Liam Paynter and Waylon Paynter.

Jack is also survived by his siblings, brother, Robert (Elaine) Pike of Galena, OH and sister, Sandra (Dave Avery) Fitzpatrick of Centennial, CO.

In addition to his parents, Jack was also preceded in death by his son, Jack Howard Pike, Jr. of Dana Point, CA and sister, Patricia Pike of Littleton, CO.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00pm, Friday, June 21, 2024 at Woodsdale Cemetery with Pastor Patrick Smith officiating.  Burial will follow at the cemetery.
