Lisbon- Jean Barnes, 95, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 24, 2026 at Reward Senior Care of Lisbon.
Mrs. Barnes was born April 22, 1930 in Salem, a daughter of the late Rollin and Sylvia (McGarvey) Scott.
Following graduation from high school, Jean worked as a rural postal carrier for the United States Postal service for 26 years. She was also an Avon salesperson for many years.
Jean was a faithful member of the Lisbon Church of the Nazarene. Jean loved to travel and she and her husband, Rusty were able to visit all 50 states.
Her husband, Paul “Rusty” Barnes, whom she married July 7, 1953, preceded her in death on January 3, 2023. Jean was also preceded in death by her daughter and son-in-law, Patty and Bruce Pastore, their son and Jean’s grandson, Scott A. Pastore; brother, Wayne Scott; and by her sister, Eileen Teague.
She is survived and will be deeply missed by her son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Sharon Barnes; her granddaughter, Whitney Barnes; and by her half-sister, Linda Scott.
Funeral services will be held at noon, Friday, March 27, 2026 at the Eells-Leggett-Stauffer Funeral Home with the Rev. Brian Brown officiating. Private burial will follow at the Lisbon Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 11am until noon on Friday at the funeral home.
Jean’s family would also like to express their sincere thanks to the staff and caregivers at Reward Senior Care of Lisbon for their love, support and care of their mother, and for being her family and providing her with a loving home during her year-long stay with them.
