Lakeland, FL-Jerry L. Oyster, 81, formerly of Lisbon, passed away quietly on Thursday, January 22, 2026 at his home.
Jerry was born May 18, 1944 in Alliance, Ohio, a son of the late Russell T. and Twila (Candle) Oyster.
He served as a Sergeant in the U. S. Airforce during the Vietnam war.
Jerry worked as an Electrical supervisor for the Burns Coal Forge, retiring in 2007.
He was a member of the Centaur RC Club, was an avid fisherman and he enjoyed birdwatching, nature, animals, friends, family and his community neighborhood.
He also loved remote airplanes, and the men he flew planes with became great friends. Dutch was one of his best friends, and they were so grateful for each other.
He is survived by his wife, Inge (Wanzke) Oyster, whom he married May 31st, 2017; brother, Jay (Barbara) Oyster; daughter; Tammy Oyster; grandchildren, Craige Beaver, Valerie Pinkerton, Christina Pugliano, and 10 great grandchildren, who all loved and appreciated Jerry. Inge’s family loved and appreciated Jerry as well, they were happy to let him in their lives and hearts. He will be missed!
In addition to his parents, Jerry was also preceded in death by his first wife, Susan (Harbor) Oyster, whom he married April 12, 1969, on March 20, 2016; and by his brother and sister-in-law, Norman and Jean Oyster.
The three brothers, Jay, Norman, and Jerry, made wonderful memories together and loved each other deeply.
Following his wishes, no calling hours or funeral services will be observed.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Eells-Leggett-Stauffer Funeral Home.
Jerry now home with Jesus, where he is waiting for his friends and family to join him.
