Lisbon-Jerry David Swimm, 82, passed away Monday evening, October 20, 2025 at Continuing Healthcare of Boardman in Boardman, Ohio after a courageous battle with dementia.
Jerry was born on September 12, 1943 in Banco, Logan County, West Virginia, the son of the late William Earl and Mary "Princess" (Butcher) Swimm.
Jerry grew up in Logan and Boone County. He spent several years in Ohio before moving back to West Virginia in 1976. He then became a Coal miner in Boone County, West Virginia and retired in 2008 from Mountain Spring Coal Company outside of Lisbon, Columbiana County, Ohio.
He attended the Church of Christ, enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing horseshoes, and listening to good old gospel music.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Ruby Perdew, Mary Stone and Doris Beezley; brothers, Herman, Terry (His Twin), Larry Keith and Teddy.
Jerry is survived by two sons, Jeremy Swimm of Lisbon and Jordan Swimm of Canton; granddaughter, Mary Jane Swimm of Lisbon and Damien McCue of Patterson, PA; brother, Freddy (Marcella) Swimm of Indiana; former wife, Brenda (Larry) Bryant of Alliance; several nieces and nephews; plus his fur babies, Otis and Babe.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm, Saturday, October 25, 2025 at the Eells-Leggett-Stauffer Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Simms officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Cemetery in Salem.
The family will receive friends and family from 11am until the time of services Saturday at the funeral home.
