East Liverpool-Kenneth A. “Ken” Rudy, 61, passed away Thursday, August 22, 2024 at the Salem Regional Medical Center following a recent illness.
Ken was born June 20, 1963 in Salem, a son of Leroy Allen Rudy and the late Doris Jean (Parker) Rudy.
Mr. Rudy had attended Southern Local schools and graduated from Lisbon David Anderson High School and had studied Culinary Arts at the Columbiana County Career Center.
Ken was a kindhearted, hard-working man holding many jobs, and who always had a smile on his face. He began working as a detailer at Newell Central Service, then began working at the former Lock 24 Restaurant, then Bob Evans; next he began driving for Quick Courier. He then earned his CDL Class A license and began driving for Transport America, went to Salem Regional Medical Center where he worked in housekeeping; then onto Salem Home Medical where he worked as a delivery person. Ken then began driving bus and working as a custodian at East Liverpool City Schools, next he drove sand truck for the oil and gas industry, then on to Waste Management and then Dailey’s, only to return to Quick Courier, then back to East Liverpool to drive bus and work as a substitute custodian. Then during the pandemic, he began working for Diamond Back as a thrower, then back again to Dailey’s and Ohio Valley Waste as a loader, and most recently he returned to East Liverpool City Schools to drive bus and work as a substitute custodian again.
Ken will be fondly remembered for his love of cars and had owned two Porsches. He also enjoyed farming and raising animals on his hobby farm, travelling, and eating pumpkin pie.
Ken was baptized in 2004 as a Jehovah’s Witness and was a ministerial servant at the East Liverpool Kingdon Hall.
In addition to his father, Leroy (Leah) Rudy of Lisbon, Ken is survived and will be deeply missed by his wife, Rebecca L. (Schaefer) Rudy, whom he married November 11, 2011; sisters, Carol Warner of Youngstown and Missy Barnes of Salem; brother, Larry Rudy of Salem; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and by numerous cousins and countless friends.
In addition to his mother, Ken was also preceded in death by a nephew.
