Salem- Kim B. Matthews, 72, passed away Monday, March 31, 2025 at his home following a brief illness.
Kim was born April 12, 1952 in Salem, a son of the late Vernon E. “Bunker” Matthews and the late JoAnn (Long) Carpenter.
A 1970 graduate of Crestview High School, Kim was a truck driver, driving for various local companies, retiring in 2024 from D&V Trucking Company.
Kim was a former member of the Kooltime Kruisers Car Club and an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also raced stock cars in his younger days and loved riding his Harley.
His wife, Jacqueline K. “Jackie” (Parrish) Matthews, whom he married December 27, 1989, preceded him in death on April 12, 2019. He was also preceded in death by his infant son, Daniel Allen Matthews; half-sister, Linda Saterfield and half-brother, Tom Young.
Kim is survived and will be dearly missed by his daughters, Kimberly (Herman) Wilkes of Lisbon and Stacey (Rich) Caldwell of Salem; stepdaughter, Tonya (Bill) Burkett of Salem; sisters, Kerry (Richard) Antram of New Waterford, Verna Jo (David) Jones of Columbiana, and Tracy (Richard) Whitacre of Leetonia; grandchildren, Kayla, Kyle, Makenzi, Madison, Kaleb, Tristin, and Emma; great grandsons, Jaxon and Oakley; and many nieces and nephews.
Following his wishes, no calling hours or funeral services will be observed at this time.
