Martha "Marti" Best

Lisbon- Martha “Marti” Best, 85, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at Aultman Hospital in Canton following a recent illness.

Marti was born October 15, 1938 in Lisbon, a daughter of the late Russell Wells and the late Pearl (Darrah) Slusher.

A graduate of Lisbon David Anderson High School, she worked as a cook in many area restaurants over the years.  She will be dearly missed and remembered as a wonderful cook and for her quick wit and sense of humor.

She was a former member of the Winona Friends Church; enjoyed fishing, and following the Cleveland Cavaliers, and Lebron James’ storied basketball career.  She once had the opportunity to watch him play in person.

Her husband, Walter George Best, whom she married December 4, 1981, preceded her in death on May 17, 2022.  She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Guy H. Wells and Russell H. Wells; and sister, Jean Detwiler.

She leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Ralph (Janet) Jones of Lisbon and Eric Jones of Salem; stepdaughters, Kathleen Saleh of Dubuque, Iowa, Amy Jo Best of Struthers, and Sara Best of Columbiana; 4 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren.

A graveside service for the family will be held at 1pm, Saturday, July 27, 2024 at the Lisbon Cemetery Chapel with Pastor Dan Hephner officiating.  Private burial will follow in the cemetery.
