Mary Burton Obituary

Salineville- Mary Ann Burton, 73, passed away Thursday, April 18, 2024 at the Salem Regional Medical Center following a courageous battle with cancer.

Mary Ann was born November 7, 1950 in Salem, a daughter of the late Joseph and Dorothy (Plunkett) Belaney and had lived all of her life in the area.

A 1969 graduate of Lisbon David Anderson High School, Mary Ann worked as a cook at Southern Local School District for 27 years.  She and her late husband, Bruce, also owned and operated the former B&M Bar in Salineville.  Mary Ann was working as a cashier at the former Hillyer’s Fine Foods, where she met Bruce.  The two were married September 3, 1977.  Sadly, he preceded her in death on April 17, 1988.

Mary Ann was a faithful member of St. George Catholic Church, where she sang in the church choir for many years.  She was also a member of the church’s Altar and Rosary Society.

Mary Ann also loved volunteering with the Salineville Kiwanis by helping serve with their breakfasts.  She also loved the outdoors, and could be found in her garden, and raising her chickens.  But most of all she loved spending time with her family and her grandkids.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her children, Brad (Jennifer) Burton of Hanoverton, Josh (Jill) Burton of Leetonia, Tamie (Rick) Milhoan, Melissa (John) Rankin, and Richie Burton, all of Lisbon; and sister-in-law, Darlene Belaney.  She also will be dearly missed by her grandchildren, Ryan, Hallee, Kiersten, Bryleigh, and Blake, and many other grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, and her husband, Mary Ann was also preceded in death by her children, Ricky Burton, Denise Burton, and Connie Dattilo; and by her brother, Michael Belaney.

A funeral mass celebrating her life will be held at 11am, Monday, April 22, 2024 at St. George Catholic Church, 271 West Chestnut Street, Lisbon with Rev. Father Stephen Wassie officiating. Burial will follow at the Lisbon Cemetery.

The family will receive family and friends from 2pm to 4pm and from 6pm to 8pm, Sunday at the Eells-Leggett-Stauffer Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of Brad and Josh Burton at an account established at Farmers National Bank to assist with her final expenses.
