Nancy Joanne Shattuck

Broadview Heights, OH-Nancy Joanne Shattuck, 89, daughter of James and Velma (Green) Shattuck born March 9, 1935 at Salem Hospital passed away Monday, July 8, 2024 at the Danbury of Broadview Heights.  

A 1953 graduate of Lisbon David Anderson High School, she entered Kent State University on the two-year cadet program, majoring in Early Childhood Education.  She began teaching for the Lisbon Board of Education in 1955.  She completed her degree in 1961.   She moved to Pompano Beach, Florida in 1968, continuing her teaching at Cresthaven Elementary until her retirement in 1994.  Upon retiring, she moved with her family to Holmes Beach on Anna Maria Island, Florida returning to her beloved hometown of Lisbon in 2016.

Summers spent schooner sailing with family and friends off the coast of Camden, Maine.  A train tour West to the Seattle World’s Fair included Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Las Vegas.  Trips abroad were to England, Scotland, Holland, France and Germany.  Nancy enjoyed reading, watercolor painting, flower arranging and lunching with friends.  She was a member of the New Lisbon Presbyterian Church and the Lisbon Historical Society.

She leaves with love her nephews Lee (Kathryn) Willet, Daniel (Lori) Willet; grandnephews Spencer and Marshal Willet; grandnieces Kaylee and Taylor Willet, cousins Lesley (Earle) Libby, Ned (Becky) Shattuck, George (Louise) Gould, Elaine McDonough, their children and her dearly loved students.

She was preceded in death by her devoted parents, her sister, Rachel Willet, and by her brother-in-law, Dick Willet.

A private service for family members will be held at the chapel in the Lisbon Cemetery.  Burial will follow in the Shattuck Family lot at the cemetery.
