Lisbon-Paul J. Gresh, 94, passed away quietly Monday, May 13, 2024 at Blossom Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following a brief illness.
Paul was born February 26, 1930 in Beatty, Pennsylvania, a son of the late George and Bertha (Medved) Gresh, and had lived in the Lisbon area since 1956.
He worked for 60 years as a machinist at Chester Hoist until his retirement.
Paul was a faithful member of St. George Catholic Church; a former member of the Lisbon Eagles Aerie 2216; and enjoyed going on “gambling trips” to Mountaineer and Las Vagas.
Paul also proudly served our country as a member of the United States Army during the Korean War.
He is survived and will be dearly missed by his wife of 70 years, Elsie (Wastl) Gresh, whom he married November 7, 1953; sons, Paul J. (Debra) Gresh of Lisbon, Robert (Carol) Gresh of Calcutta, and Kurt (Melanie) Gresh of Lisbon; sister, Veronica Clark of Latrobe, PA; grandchildren, Paul D. (Carla) Gresh of Plymouth, MA, Carla (Bill) Blocksom of Lisbon, Lori (Matt) Yeager of Fairlawn, Patrick Gresh of Lisbon, Jessica (Gary) Hegerle of Moon Twp, PA, Vanessa (Ryan) Fox of Calcutta, Miranda Gresh of Glenmoor, Heath (Megan) Martin of Bonita Springs, FL, Derek (Heather) Martin of Boyertown, PA, Kaylee Gresh of Lisbon, and Alyssa Gresh of Oakland, CA.; 15 great grandchildren; and one great great grandson.
In addition to his parents, Paul was also preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Martin; and siblings, Andrew, George, Joe, Frank, Steve, Mary, Emma, John, Ann and Elizabeth.
Funeral services will be held at 7pm, Friday, May 17, 2024 at the Eells-Leggett-Stauffer Funeral Home with Rev. Father Stephen Wassie officiating. Private burial with full military honors will be held at a later date at the Lisbon Cemetery.
The family will receive guests from 5pm until the time of services Friday at the funeral home.
All family and friends are also invited to a memorial luncheon which will begin at 3pm, Friday at St. George Catholic Church Hall prior to the calling hours.
