Bath, SC- Richard John “Rick” Simballa, 67, formerly of Lisbon, passed away Saturday, November 29, 2025, with his beloved wife, Susan and his stepson and his wife, Charles and Shelly Bowers, by his side in the comfort of his home.
Rick was born June 11, 1958, in East Liverpool, Ohio, a son of the late Robert John and Jessie Mae (Limeberry) Simballa. A 1977 graduate of Southern Local High School, he was raised on the family farm in Lisbon, Ohio. He loved gardening, fishing, and traveling. He was devoted to his Lord and to prayer.
After high school, he began working as a dragline oiler, then went to work at the former Lawless Industries in North Lima, and later worked as a truck driver. Rick met Susan, and together they worked at a convent in Ohio taking care of the statues and grounds for 10 years.
Susan said he was a devoted husband and best friend. She was his caregiver and wife. They worked and traveled life’s long road together, and she loved him more every day – he was the best.
They moved to South Carolina for the last twenty years and his neighbors all looked forward to seeing him on the porch, waving to them as they went by.
Left to cherish Rick's memory are his wife of 35 years, Susan, whom he married November 13, 1990; brother, Dave (the late Susi) Simballa of Lisbon, Ohio; aunt and uncle, Joseph and June Simballa of East Liverpool, Ohio; and his stepson and daughter-in-law, Charles and Shelly Bowers, of Lisbon, Ohio.
In addition to his parents, Rick was also preceded in death by his friend, Dave McKee.
The family would like to thank Crescent Hospice for their care of Rick.
