Lisbon-Robert A. “Bob” Gasaway, 82, passed away Friday, August 16, 2024 at the Hospice House of Poland.
Bob was born February 2, 1942 in Follansbee, West Virginia, a son of the late Cecil and Lilly Gasaway.
Following high school, Bob entered Jefferson College thru the U.S. Army to become a sniper and served proudly with the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War.
After returning home he went to work at Weirton Steel, where he worked as a blast furnace foreman at the coke plant, retiring after 43 years of faithful service.
A Roman Catholic by faith, Bob enjoyed trap shooting, hunting and fishing, and playing golf. He had even played professional golf for some time. But what he enjoyed more than anything was spending time with his wife and son.
His wife, Mary Beth (Hinchliffe) Gasaway, whom he married September 1, 1979, preceded him in death April 15, 2023. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Ronnie Gasaway.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his son, Michael “Mike” Gasaway and his wife, Sarah, and her daughter, Bernadette. He also is survived by his two brothers, Randy Gasaway of Weirton and Richard Gasaway of Minnesota.
Following his wishes, no calling hours or funeral services will be observed.
Arrangements are in the care of the Eells-Leggett-Stauffer Funeral Home.
