Steve Harrold Obituary

Washingtonville-John Steven Harrold, 75, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, June 18, 2024 at Shepherd of the Valley.

Steve was born May 16, 1949 in Salem, a son of the late Delmar and Jane (Daugherty) Harrold and had lived all of his life in the area.

A 1967 graduate of Beaver Local High School, Steve was the owner of Harrold Industrial Supplies and provided carbide cutting tools to many local machine shops.  He was also a machinist and had worked most recently at Brunie Industrial Tooling in Sebring, Ohio.

Steve helped many area youth by as a Scoutmaster as well as coaching little league baseball for many years.

Steve was someone who loved to laugh.  Good with a joke and quick with a comeback.  Easy going and enjoyed teasing and making others laugh.

He loved camping, family picnics, cooking on an open fire and hobo pies.  He enjoyed driving his boat on the Allegheny River and teaching several young campers how to waterski and ride an inner tube.  It's no secret how much he loved to fish.  He was always very competitive and never said no to a game of horseshoes, washers, jarts, bocce ball, or corn hole.

He and Shirley, his wife of 41 years, enjoyed square dancing and were members of the Square Wheels.  They enjoyed weekend getaways which typically included going to casinos, Amish Country, Frankenmuth, and they thought nothing of driving two hours to a good restaurant.

Steve was an avid and very competitive golfer and bowler.  He and his lifelong friend, Jim "Smitty" Smith could often be found on a golf course in the summer or a bowling alley in the winter.  He was an accomplished bowler, having seven perfect 300 games and two 800 series.  He was very proud of being a charter member of the Salem Area Bowling Hall of Fame.

Steve was a lover of hot dogs, all hot dogs, cooked anyway, boiled, fried, grilled, over a fire, with coney sauce or without, and even sliced on a pizza.

Give him some Creedance, a fire, and a hot dog and he couldn't be happier surrounded by his family and friends.

He loved and missed his dog's Scruffy, Corky, Abbie and Maggie and we are certain they were there to greet him when he arrived.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley L. (Davis) Harrold on January 5, 2022.  He was also preceded in death by his son, Steven Brinzo, sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Ronnie White; and by his brothers, Mick and Denny Harrold.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his daughters, Tracey Brandewie of Hilliard, Ohio and Leah Marasco of Leetonia; son, Tony Brinzo of Port Charlotte, Florida; brother, Robert (Mary Kay) Harrold; sisters-in-law, Penny and Linda Harrold.

He was Papap and will be greatly missed by his six grandchildren, Michael Dailey, Dylan Wolford, AJ Brinzo, Michelle (Alex) Reed, Katie (Chase) McSweeney, and Zach Brandewie; and by his three great granddaughters, Peyton Dailey, Adalynn Reed, and Victoria Dailey.

A memorial visitation will be held from 5pm to 7pm, Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at the Eells-Leggett-Stauffer Funeral Home.
